ELLAS is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit corporation established in 2003, named in honor of national and international Latina role models, and the ELLAS CEO and Founder, Pilar Pinel. The program derives its revenue through corporate funders, fundraising activities and individual contributions.
ELLAS Mission and Program goal is to facilitate academic and leadership opportunities assuring a higher education scaffolding that’s absent in the lives of underprivileged Latina youth is present and accessible. Activity begins with ELLAS Annual Empowerment Conference, a collaborative between academic institutions and professionals designed to inspire and motive underserved youth to expand their educational, career and financial paradigms throughout their high school and undergraduate studies that is further supported by quarterly academic, STEM, financial literacy and leadership events at each participating high school.
ELLAS Annual Empowerment Conference and Program Outreach Events is made possible through corporate grants, event sponsorships and individual contributions, each making an invaluable difference in the lives of underprivileged Latina youth and their families. ELLAS proudly acknowledges its’ grant donors, sponsors, partners and volunteers for investing in America’s future through educational success and role modeling by way of marketing materials, social media and website posting.
The ELLAS school partnership program strives to meet student basic needs, while promoting achievement in STEM, financial literacy, undergraduate studies and entrepreneurship. ELLAS Program incorporates university students and ELLAS alumni as ambassadors and peer mentors to support the various school partnerships.
